-We encourage regular attendance as it enhances your learning experience, but know there’s no penalty for missing a class. You may request make up time, and is subject to instructor availability. â€‹

- Stay in the designated Studio 360 area of Eckels Pottery. Please do not disrupt the gallery or private studio spaces.

-Kilns are extremely hot while firing. Our high fire kiln and surrounding area can be dangerous. Only enter the kiln area if supervised by a studio employee.

- Please clean your studio space after use. We are dedicated to providing a clean and safe environment for all students and visitors Please clean your wheel area, hand builiding tables, and wedging stations with water and a sponge. Clean your wheel trays with a fresh bucket of water at your station, and dispose of water in designated buckets.

- During classes, student will use a designated shelf space. Please do not touch other people's work without permission and store all your work on your designated shelf.

-All students must contribute to a positive and welcoming learning environment. Disrespectful or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated, and Eckels Pottery reserves the right to dismiss students that violate the studio policy agreement.

-Dispose of clay properly. Clay or glaze can damage plumbing if it is dumped  in the utility sink or bathroom sink. Instead, please dispose of materials in the designated trash can for clay scraps. All used clay is recycled to make new usable clay.

Things to know before working in a pottery studio

PXL_20260321_211454003.jpg

  • Pottery can be messy-- we recommend wearing closed toed shoes, an apron or clothing that can get dirty.

  • Please take care of your personal belongings—we can’t be responsible for lost or damaged items. Designated areas for your things will be introduced by your instructor when you arrive.

  • Pottery involves tools, clay, glazes, spinning wheels, and hot kilns. While we take safety seriously, accidents can happen (like cuts, burns, strains, or dust exposure).

  • Use a beginner's mindset.  Like any new skill, learning pottery skills is challenging. Understand that you may not be perfect right away, but that is ok. Be ready to embrace mistakes. Mistakes are important parts of the learning process. If you are part of a multi-week class, you may practice in the studio outside of class times during business hours or  during designated times indicated by your instructor.
